About Us

Owner Joe Zakes began his career in 1971 doing new construction including framing and trim. After a few years he moved into the remodeling field and founded Almost Perfect Construction in 1980.

After time spent learning both the construction and management aspects of the business, Joe was ready to expand the company in the early 90s as the Austin economy rebounded. Company development in the 1990s included hiring employees, taking on larger projects, and becoming a member of the Austin Green Building Program. During this period we also joined the Austin Remodelers Association (now merged with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry) in order to network with and learn from other professionals.

Continuing education has always been a priority for the company. This includes improving and refining business practices, learning about new construction products and techniques, and education in Green Building focusing on durability, indoor air quality, and energy efficiency.

Joe's professional development in this decade has included the learning curve necessary for a complete renovation on a historic (1890) home in downtown Austin, acquiring the Certified Remodeler designation from NARI in 2005, and being a study group leader for the NARI Certified Remodeler class in 2006 and 2007.

In this decade we have continued our focus on personnel development, quality remodeling and customer service.

Our construction staff includes:

Doug Morgan has been with the company since 1999. His skills include exquisite trim work and beautiful custom cabinetry.
